Freedom Bowl Classic Postponed Until July 2021

In an open letter to players, coaches, sponsors and volunteers, Mr. Mike Clemenhagen, Chairman of the Freedom Bowl Classic, announced this year's game will be postponed. The following is Mr. Clemenhagen's letter posted in full:
Dear Coaches, Players, Sponsors and Volunteers, On April 29, the Freedom Bowl Classic Board of Directors met to discuss our obligations to the committed 2020 players, our sponsors; and foremost, our obligations to provide a safe event for everyone who attends the event. After careful consideration and the unknowns of what limitations may or may not be required to safely operate a sporting event this summer, we have made the painful decision to postpone the 2020 Freedom Bowl to 2021. As part of our decision, we will maintain the current roster and invite back the confirmed 2020 players and coaches to the 2021 game if they are able. A press release will be issued later this week announcing our decision. We will also make announcements on our website, our social media platforms and by email regarding the guidance we receive from our national office regarding the 2021 game. As a charity event, the Freedom Bowl Classic is for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals for Children. Our first and foremost value is to help children suffering from illnesses, diseases and challenges to live a productive life. Second, the Freedom Bowl has few resources that provide for the continuation of the event each year; as such we remain frugal with those resources so the event can continue to showcase our Southwest Washington players and coaches, and so we can successfully raise funds and maintain continuity for the next years’ event. In closing, thank you for your willingness to help the patients at Shriners Hospitals for Children and we look forward to seeing you in 2021. Sincerely,
Mike Clemenhagen, Chairman 2020
